Established in 2024 following the successful merger between Bayanat and Yahsat, Space42’s global reach allows it to address the rapidly evolving needs of its customers in governments, enterprises, and communities. Space42’s satellite fleet covers more than 150 countries and 80% of the world’s population.

Space42 comprises of two business units: Yahsat Space Services and Bayanat Smart Solutions. The Yahsat Space Services unit focuses on upstream satellite operations for both fixed and mobility satellite solutions. The Bayanat Smart Solutions unit integrates geospatial data acquisition and processing with AI to inform decision-making, enhance situational awareness, and improve operational efficiency. Powering these solutions is Space42’s AI-driven multi-intelligence platform, GIQ.

Currently, Space42 operates five GEO satellites: Al Yah 1, Al Yah 2, Al Yah 3, Thuraya 2, and Thuraya 3. The company is actively expanding its satellite fleet with three new GEO satellites: Thuraya 4, which is due to be launched late in 2024, and Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5, due to be launched in 2027 and 2028, respectively. Space42 is advancing the UAE Earth Observation program by launching the UAE’s first SAR Satellite, Foresight-1, in August 2024, and developing a SAR EO constellation that will include seven satellites.

Aligned with the UAE’s accelerating efforts to achieve the objectives of the National Space Strategy 2030 and the AI Strategy 2031, Space42 is dedicated to boosting in-country manufacturing, positioning the UAE as a key provider across the space value chain.
